Care for self not self-care
Today I am writing to you to talk about the very over-used word in spiritual circles; self-care.
I have/do use this phrase too, but the more I learn about 'self-care' it makes me wonder, who we are actually doing it for?
Do you take time out for self-care because people tell you that's what you need to slow down, be present, rest etc...
Are you doing it for yourself or because you think that's what you 'should' do?
If you answered Yes for self - Fantastic!
However, I think most (including myself in the beginning) did it because that's what I thought I needed to improve myself in some way.
I would like to ask you a different question today;
Do you care for self?
Im sure you care for your kids, family, partner, friends BUT do you care for yourself like you care for others???
Now really think about that......
Interesting isn't it. As women we are very good at nurturing and care taking for people in our lives, but when it comes to ourselves, its way down on the priority list.
What if I was to put it this way;
Do you have love for self?
Self-love is referring to internal factors, not external like self-care.
Self-care can easily be done through a massage, coffee with a friend, hair colour and cut ect.
I am inviting you to think a little deeper on this question today.
Do I have self-love?
SELF-LOVE IS
being in line with your values
knowing yourself intimately
being vulnerable
being true to your purpose
honouring your opinion of self
Knowing yourself intimately - I just love this!
The definition of Intimacy is close familiarity and friendship.
Do you have a friendship with yourself and know yourself intimately?
In which ways do you think you could invite more self-love into your life and know yourself intimately over the next week?
